HSU hosts discussion on health issues for minorities

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - Henderson State University will host a Minority Health Forum on Feb. 15 from 6-7 p.m. at the Community Education Center, 640 South 6th St. in Arkadelphia. Dr. Creshelle Nash, who practices internal medicine in Little Rock, will be the speaker.

Nash is medical director of the Arkansas Minority Health Commission and assistant professor in the division of general internal medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

The forum is open to the public, and refreshments will be served.

St. Joseph's offers heart screenings

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - St. Joseph’s Mercy Health Center is committed to providing a range of preventative services through the Mercy Heart and Vascular Center. Mercy will host a $10 heart risk screening from 7 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 8, and Thursday, February 10, at the Mercy Heart and Vascular Center.

Clinic offers free cancer screenings for men

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – According to the Arkansas Prostate Cancer Foundation, the average man has a one-in-six chance of developing prostate cancer during his lifetime. Some men are at even greater risk. The APCF recommends males should be screened by 40 years of age.

A Nashville clinic is providing free cancer screenings at the Howard County Christian Health Center. The screening is free and open to the public. The event is on February 19 from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm.
