HSU, OBU registration begins in January

Henderson State University offices are currently open. Registration for the spring semester begins Monday, January 18. Classes begin Tuesday, January 19.

Ouachita Baptist University offices are also open. Registration fo the springs semester begins Tuesday, January 19. Classes begin Wednesday, January 20.

No school Monday for 7th, 8th grade Goza Middle School students

No school Monday for 7th, 8th grade Goza Middle School students

Due to flooding on the Goza Middle School campus earlier this week, 7th and 8th grade students will not report on Monday, January 3. 

ONLY 6th grade students will report on Monday, January 3.

HSU Presidential Search Advisory Committee

A Presidential Search Advisory Committee was formed to assist in finding a new president at Henderson State University. The committee will begin meeting in January and will provide input and feedback from the campus and community on active and prospective presidential candidates.

Committee members include:
• Johnny Hudson, chair of Henderson’s Board of Trustees (committee chair)
• Dr. Peggy Bailey, Ellis College representative
• Paulette Blacknall, director of the Southwest Arkansas Educational Renewal Zone
• Dr. Troy Bray, 2011 Faculty Senate president
• Don Case, HSU Foundation board member
• Buddy Formby, Henderson alumnus
• Dr. Rhonda Harrington, Teachers College representative
• Dr.

HSU winter commencement ceremonies Dec. 17

HSU winter commencement ceremonies Dec. 17

Winter commencement ceremonies will be held at Henderson State University Friday, Dec. 17, with more than 200 undergraduate and graduate students receiving their degrees.

The ceremony for the School of Business and Teachers College, Henderson, will begin at 3 p.m. in the Wells Center gymnasium, followed at 6 p.m. by the ceremony for the Ellis College of Arts and Sciences.

Faculty charges will be presented by Dr. Connie Phelps, assistant professor of family and consumer sciences, and Beverly Buys, professor of art. The student responses will be given by Stacy Renee Grise and George Ryan Quin.

Henderson will honor Dr. Kay McAfee and Dr. Ann Rye as distinguished alumni. Following a special banquet, both will speak during commencement ceremonies.
